What do people use to clean up Malware on a hacked site?

Is there a good plugin...or is there a good software package or application that can be downloaded...free or purchased...to remove the malware from my site?

    Thanks!

I signed up for Sucuri. They'll clean your blog up quickly.

So...you already had your site hacked and then you signed up with Sucuri...which cleared it up?

We would recommend SiteLock. If you already have been hacked and you call them, I believe it costs around $250 for them to remove the malware and fix your site. Sign up for their pro plan moving forward and they will scan your website daily and remove any malware automatically. Sitelock costs regularly around $200 BUT if you are hosted with Bluehost or other hosting companies that work with them, it is cheaper (approx $59/year). Definitely worth the price for peace of mind.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Lisa...I'll look at this too.

A lot of options...I'm sure they vary in effectiveness.

I clean it manually. Takes no more than an hour.

How do you clean it manually? I have looked all through my php and css and all my files and can't find where its adding in these keywords:

    generic
    viagra
    cialis
    levitra

These are all showing up in my google search meta 🙁

You can install a plugin which scans for malware or look through the files manually to find them.

Some plugins cross check your files against the originals.

I use Wordfence however there are many others.

I have a wordpress website hosted on a VPS, I had not accessed or updated the site for awhile while waiting for an uncooperate tech to delete some log files. The site is now taken up with malware, when I go on it attempt to go to admin it take me to a site selling Viagra. Please advise how I can remove the malware, and then update WordPress, braddalton, I welcome your advice or from anyone else.
