Why is my archive page blank?

I added a new page and named it Archives. I chose the archive template and the default layout. But I don't see my sidebar content from my homepage. I don't see the introductory text I typed for this page, and I don't see any archives whatsoever.

I browsed the tutorials and FAQ and see no instructions on how to setup an archives page. I'm using the eleven40 theme. My website is not visible to the public yet.

I'd like to at least get my archives page looking like the demo for my theme. But this is how I want to style that page (ignore the line spacing):

For now, though, I'd just like to get something showing up on my archives page. I'm kind of confused as to why there isn't any default layout in place. Thank you!!

In case anyone sees this thread, I wanted to follow up. I ended up contacting support.

They took a look at my website and told me to deactivate my plugins and see if one of them might be causing the problem. Right away I discovered that by deactivating the Genesis Woo Commerce plugin, the problem was immediately fixed.

This is concerning, since I need that plugin. They aren't able to help me figure out why that plugin caused this problem.

@Tickled Pink - I resolved this issue for a support user on one of the community forums last night - her page wasn't appearing because she had installed Woo Commerce, but hadn't "activated" Woo Commerce to create the pages. Once I did that for her, all her pages were visible.

That might be a suggestion for you?

I activated the plugin. But are you saying there was something else I needed to do? My archives are independent of Woo Commerce.

In your dashboard, do you have a big pink banner telling you to add Woo Commerce pages? That's what the user who I helped yesterday had. Once I clicked the "create pages" button, Woo Commerce automatically added all the shop pages. Once that was done, all the other independent pages that the user had created were visible.

I don't have a lot of experience with Woo Commerce, but this is the one time where I had done trouble shooting, and it resolved her issue.

Support told me there are some bugs with the recent plugin update. They are working on fixing this.

But how curious that Woo Commerce would interfere with non-commerce pages. That's very concerning. I'll share this with support.

Who knows? Maybe it was theme specific for the theme I was working on (which was designed for WooCommerce)...

Actually, I see that same pink/purple box. I would be very concerned about a plugin like this that affects non-commerce pages. This is very concerning. So I decided to delete it, but even after refreshing my browser and clearing the cache, that big box still shows up on my dashboard and plugins page. It leaves behind some files, apparently. You can click the HIDE button, but I shouldn't have to do that for a plugin I deleted.

I've read some great reviews of the Genesis Connect for Woo Commerce plugin and am hopeful they'll get this fixed.

Okay, progress, folks!  🙂

If you're using WooCommerce and see that HUGE pink/purple box, it's coming from the Woo plugin, not the Genesis Connect plugin. These are two different plugins that work together. Andrea in support hung in there with me and helped me figure this out.

That box has a theme integration button. The text says to click it if you're experiencing layout problems. Susan, when you clicked that button, you fixed the archives page problem. The concern I have, though, is that the blank archives page seems to be a problem with the Genesis Connect plugin, not the WooCommerce once.

That's all, then. I just wanted to update this thread. I see too many threads that get abandoned without any followup.

For others visiting this thread - if you have issues with either setting up your site, or technical difficulties, you should do as @TickledPink did, and submit a support ticket - that's what the help desk is there for. 🙂
