Whitespace Pro footer

The footer links current menu item is coded from the navigation menu and the color is #222...problem is my footer background color is #222...so I need to change the current menu item color in the footer, but am having trouble doing so...

I wrote the code as follows and nothing:

.menu genesis-nav-menu menu-footer gfb-menu-footer .current-menu-item > a {
color: #996633;
}

Just wondering what I am doing wrong and if someone could please help!

Try adding this:

.footer-menu .genesis-nav-menu a:hover, .genesis-nav-menu .current-menu-item > a, .genesis-nav-menu .sub-menu .current-menu-item > a:hover {
    color: #996633;
}

Be sure to remove any changes you made that may interfere, like your code above.

Thanks so much - it worked for the footer menu, but then the primary nav menu changed to something I did not want...but at least it is a start...

Here is the code that worked:

.footer-menu .genesis-nav-menu .current-menu-item > a, .genesis-nav-menu .current-menu-item > a:hover {
color: #996633;
}

Woops, I didn't even notice the commas in the code I posted, I simply inspected your site and grabbed the relevant chunk. If you have any issues with yours, or simply want to try this to see if it does the same, this is the correct code:

.footer-menu .genesis-nav-menu a:hover, .footer-menu .genesis-nav-menu .current-menu-item > a, .footer-menu .genesis-nav-menu .sub-menu .current-menu-item > a:hover {
    color: #996633;
}
