    I'm just getting my feet wet with GF and diving into the category management and display options.

    Can someone tell me what is the purpose of the "Archive Headline" and "Archive Intro Text"?

    In particular, why do we need these fields in light of the fact we already have "Category Name" and "Description"?

    Is there a use case for displaying all 4 of these elements on the archive page?

    The category name and description don't display anywhere by default, but the archive headline and description will display on category pages before the list of posts. That gives you an opportunity to post an introduction, like this one (screenshot from a client site):
