    Hi,

I'm using Genesis & Magazine theme.

    I'd like to create a custom category page to display the single_cat_title(); and the category_description();

Please note - I don't want to do this:  http://my.studiopress.com/tutorials/category-blog-page/

My descriptions are already filled in and I'd like to create a new category.php page.

I just am a little stuck with doing it, making that page.  My knowledge of Genesis is limited (I only bought the framework a week ago) & have limited PHP knowledge too.  But is something I could comfortably do in a general WordPress theme 🙁

Site is being developed on MAMP locally, so I can't give you a preview.  This is what I've done so far:

    http://pastebin.com/SAVWb9dr

It's displaying the category title & description above the whole site though.

Can someone tell me where I'm going wrong, correct me and tell me why so I know in future?

Thank you SO much in advance and sorry for the n00b questions!!

    Hi Brad,

If you look at my Paste bin code, you'll see that's where I got most of the code from 😉

It's great, but my custom title & desc for the category aren't outputting where they should be.

IE) my code is probably right, but in the wrong order.

I just need someone to point out where I'm going wrong.

    Cheers 🙂

After trying several solutions, I'm still stuck 🙁

Any ideas...?  Or if I'm not explaining my problem clearly let me know, I'll try again!

I found a rather crude way (I'm guessing?) of doing it from another post:

If anyone can tell me if there's a "neater" or "proper" or "better way" of doing it, I will change it. But for now, using this code & saving as category.php works great 🙂
