    Hello There,

I am relatively inexperienced in WordPress. So, just wanted to seek your advice whether using two different themes in one website makes sense or not. I am designing a website for travel industry. The theme I am currently using has lots of features I like. However, the coding of the theme is less than perfect. It is extremely slow as well. I have been thinking of using a Genesis theme for some of the pages of the site while keeping the same old theme for the rest. If I start customizing Genesis theme to get the same functionality I have in the other theme, that will be too much effort on my part.

Could anyone please suggest to me whether it is OK to use two themes instead of just one?

Thanks and I look forward to getting your comments.

    Regards

First time I am hearing it. I think that you will use one theme per site. If you are liking the some features of another theme then you will add that features in your theme.

The logic for using two themes is extremely simple. Genesis themes are extremely fast. However, they are generic themes. Other themes may not be so seo frtiendly but they have the functionality required in a specific niche.

You can only use one theme per each WordPress site. This is how WordPress works. If you want to use Genesis, you have to integrate the functionality you want from the other theme into Genesis.

    Victor,

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I tested two themes concept after looking at a tutorial. Personally, I do not feel comfortable with the two theme idea. However, it also requires MASSIVE efforts on the parts of a developer to get the customization a complex hospitality related website needs. That is the reason I wanted to seek the opinion of others whether it is OK to use two themes in one website.

But, anyway, thanks. I think it will be too much effort to customize any genesis theme for my site.

    Best Regards

That's too bad. You're going to miss out on all the advantages Genesis offers for SEO and performance. Good luck.
