    I'd like to know how I can change my theme so that on the summaries of the post I can use a custom excerpt text. I have tried putting text in the excerpt box but it's still pulling the first paragraph of the post. How can I change this so that the summary doesn't pull the 1st paragraph.

    I did ask the theme designer but she told me to ask in here because she didn't know.

    Go to Admin > Genesis > Theme Settings

    Then toggle the select "Display Post Content" to "Display Post Excerpts" and if there is an excerpt, it will show in your loops, otherwise it will show the truncated content.
