    Hi there,

    I’m working on a website that will replace an existing website…. so I’m being super cautious about having the new website locked down so that it is not picked up by the search engines…

    Using Genesis Sample Theme…

    I tried to insert the following code into the Functions PHP area:

    <?php
    //* Do NOT include the opening php tag
    //* Remove the site title
    remove_action( 'genesis_site_title', 'genesis_seo_site_title' );
    remove_action( 'genesis_site_description', 'genesis_seo_site_description');

    My intention was to remove the Title Area and Description in the Header widget....

    Now I'm getting:
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/launch77/public_html/joburg/wp-content/themes/genesis-sample/functions.php on line 30

    Even if I remove the code above and Update I get the same error....

    Questions:
    1. How do I fix this?
    2. Is there a way to remove the Title Area and Description without touching the functions.php code?

    Your help is appreciated...

    Regards
    Greg

    <?php
    //* Do NOT include the opening php tag

    The code clearly states

    Do NOT include the opening php tag

    Using FTP, download your child themes functions file and remove the <?php from the file.

    Make sure you leave the first <?php tag at the very beginning of the file.

    Then add this code:

    remove_action( 'genesis_site_title', 'genesis_seo_site_title' );
    remove_action( 'genesis_site_description', 'genesis_seo_site_description');
