MemberHi guys.
I just want to make sure on something. Is this how you do the upgrading?
1. Upgrade WP 3.6
2. Install Genesis RC
3. Change the hooks and codes given by Brian (CSS)
4. Change the codes in function.phpHere's what I did. I am still on Genesis 1.9 and should I upgrade to Genesis RC first? Also I read on Nich The Geek's blog about streamline need special 'codes' to get it working properly?
Any guide for this please?

ParticipantHi Reginald,
You're general plan could work just fine. I would suggest one difference.... for step 2, I would suggest waiting for the release of official Genesis 2, as opposed to the RC.Not that the RC is bad, I've been running it in test, and it's fine. But today, I see that in my downloads, the RC is gone. No news anywhere, as SP likes to have an air of mystery with releases. 馃槈 Because I don't know, I'll speculate: I'm guessing that they're scrambling to get the official release ready, and that it will show up, maybe today or tomorrow?
For steps 3 and 4, I'm guessing that you're referring to enabling HTML5 in Streamline? If so, you could do all that, too, if you're quite geeky, as I am. 馃檪 But strictly speaking, you won't even need to do that yet. Unless you explicitly enable HTML5, it won't turn on. Genesis 2 is designed to be backward-compatible. And if you were to wait longer, an HTML5 version of Streamline may become available with no changes needed by you.
I suppose it just depends on how soon you feel you need HTML5. I know that many of my friends simply can't wait when any release or new feature comes out. 馃檪

MemberHi David,
Whoa thanks for the reply. Right after I posted this, Brian hinted that tomorrow, Genesis 2.0 will be released 馃檪 Can't wait.
Okay I got you. I got my hands ichy. I tested it and I think streamline does't work well much on that tactic. Some of the layout went hair wire etc. Crazy.
So, I was thinking if there is any other guides I can follow 馃檪
I learn from my mistakes and glad that there are so many good people around especially from Genesis community!
*I want the update NOW 馃榾 <-- yes I can't wait but I am not developer. Haiz...

ParticipantReginald,
I hear you! btw, I have read and enjoyed your Posts before.Is this the method that you tried? It looks very good, although I haven't needed to try it yet - I am running the RC2 Sample theme in a test environment which already has that stuff done. But as I look at my RC2 Sample functions code, I see one difference already: the Genesis developers have quietly changed the command for enabling HTML5. (doh!) If you tried to allow HTML5, and nothing happened, maybe that's why! Here's the new command:
add_theme_support( 'genesis-html5' );
So several sites that tell how to enable HTML5 in Genesis are already out-of-date, I'm afraid. I'm guessing that Eric's converter will probably be great, though. I think I'll try it on another theme in test sometime today!
Cheers, Dave

MemberHi David,

Guess what? There's Eleven40 PRO theme....is that new or I am just outdated?

Hee hee! I like your enthusiasm. You can watch for me. 馃槈
Eleven40 Pro.... hmmm, yeah, must be new, I guess! It's a lot more expensive than other themes for some reason, and I can't see why. I hope this doesn't mean that they'll all go up.

ParticipantYeah, got the new stuff. Oh wow, I'm doing a code compare, and they've gone back to the original command for HTML5:
add_theme_support( 'html5' );
So my advice above is invalid. 馃檪
Never a dull moment!

MemberHey,
I managed to convert everything and seems working.
Now, the only issue is the homepage. See this: http://www.reginaldchan.net
How to solve the issue? Weird right?

ParticipantThat is weird, but hard to see why from outside. I have one possible thing to check. I just read in the release info that they have gotten rid of the ENews widget (I think), and have broken that out into a plugin. So if your home template is trying to grab that old widget, it may no longer work.
Hope that helps, Dave

ParticipantMore possibly useful info about eNews plugin. Sounds like he'll be sticking a new change up there shortly!
