    thanks Susan,

that means creating a new widget instead of using the one Genesis comes with. I was basically wondering if there was plans to fix the widget that Genesis comes with

Maybe - but it doesn't sound like it's a Genesis specific issue, more IP related. My twitter feed seems to be running okay these days.

it's not necessarily a Genesis issue, more with the way the widget calls the Twitter API. if it used javascript instead, we wouldn't get the errors.

maybe i'll stop being lazy and create a twitter widget that will use the same stylings as the Genesis one

Awesome - thank you for the link Susan! The shared hosting explanation makes sense.

If anyone is looking to customize the widget, check out http://www.1stwebdesigner.com/css/customize-twitter-search-widgets/. I ended up adding quite of bit of my own custom styling, but that post was a good starting point.

I first read the above link (http://website-experts.ca/how-to-fix-showing-latest-tweets-on-your-website/) before I came here, but I think the problem is mainly with the Plugins. I have a ton of sites on Rackspace (shared cloud sites) and do a bunch of custom work with Genesis Child Themes. I just set one up a site and was trying to get the Genesis Latest Tweets Widget (plugin) to work. I even contacted Rackspace support and we worked on it for 30+ min. I installed another plugin to see if I could get that to work - it didn't either. It may have something to do with the Trust Level of the shared servers your host provide, which would mean the plugin developers need to do something about it.

That being said, ... there is good news or at least this worked for me ...

In your twitter account go to https://twitter.com/settings/widgets/ and create a Widget for your website - after you save the widget you create a snippet of code that you can past into a Text Widget for your sidebar (or other location). That seem to work much better for me than a plugin, though I just instituted it so I haven't thoroughly tested it.

Maybe it will help you guys.

I haven't tried all the work-around options yet. So, I can't make a suggestion about which option is better. I can say I do have a Twitter Widget working on http://bamajr.com and several other websites, using the widget Twitter provides. Their widget, never misses a beat.

I've also read the explanation, provided by http://website-experts.ca/how-to-fix-showing-latest-tweets-on-your-website/ and it may be a great theory, but it is mostly non-sense. If an IP Address were blocked by the Twitter API, the Genesis Latest Tweets Widget would NEVER work. When, in fact, if you refresh the website enough, it will work, but only sometimes.

This would lead me to believe, the issue is in fact, the Genesis Latest Tweets Widget, specifically in how it calls the Twitter API. My guess is the stumbling block is that it doesn't actually get authorization, from the Twitter account, as an App - but this is just a theory, too.

I just tried refreshing one specific website, ever couple of minutes, for over an hour. I did this on my laptop and my iPhone. The Genesis Latest Tweets Widget worked, for over an hour, without a problem. However, now it is back to reporting:

The Twitter API returned an error while processing your request. Please try again.

This tells me, a blocked IP Address, for the shared server, this particular (http://nhccigh.org) website is hosted on, IS NOT THE PROBLEM.

I hooked up an unrelated (ugly) Twitter box and it worked 100%. Is this Genesis plugin issue going to be fixed?

I've had API issues since I started using Genesis a few years ago.  Sometimes it behaves, other times, it doesn't.  I think I'm just going to use code snippets now.

When I click on the 'Please set the Genesis Latest Tweets Settings', I get the message
'You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page'.
Anyone have an idea if I need to change permissions somehow? Or what can be done?
    Thanks!
