Transparent header in sample theme

Hello,

I am trying to make the header transparent in the Genesis sample theme. I've tried using style "background:transparent;" to the class .site-header but that didn't work. I have added a parallax full width background image for the landing page, which goes all the way to the top where I think it is behind the header. However, when setting the header background to transparent, the background becomes grey (from white) instead of showing the underlying image. If anyone could help me or lead me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

Without access to your site to examine the CSS, not sure how we can help. Let us know when the site is on a host where it can be examined.
