This is more a generic question than anything, really anyone can answer and provide advice or opinion on. I was wondering what people think about the design of: http://southeasternreptiles.com.au/

I think I've just been looking at it too much for too long and when that happens I start doubting whether it looks appealing or appalling. It kind feels like it's missing something as well. I'm not sure. What do you think about the design?

I like it. The only thing I would suggest is to make the smaller images on the home page clickable to become larger images - although I don't like snakes, it would be nice to have the ability to see a larger image, so you can tell whether the snake you find in your backyard is more poisonous than another snake.

Speaking of snakes - I grew up in Australia, which I know has many species of snakes, but rarely ever saw any in the almost 30 years I lived there. I've seen more snakes in my suburban Texas driveway in the five years I've been living here than I ever saw in Australia. 🙂

    The colouring is great.

I think the header area would feel more balanced if the logo were on the left hand side & a large telephone number on the right (& making it clickable/ringable) on a smart phone. I sort of missed the number in the navigation on first pass - because on skimming, it just looks like part of the navigation & you don't expect to see a telephone number in the nav area (unless it's in the nav right).

Also note that the logo cuts off on both sides when viewed on my iPhone.

    Cheers

    Helena 🙂

I guess it depends where you live Susan. I lived in Ferny Hills/The Gap (20 mins west of Brisbane inner city) for a few years adjacent Samford National park in FH and behind the original quarry @ The Gap so saw a lot of them. Had a 3m python living in the roof for the most of the time at Ferny preying on possums and our cats (thankfully unsuccessful on the cats). But some people want them removed or killed.

I know my neighbor actually called a pest control guy for a snake at one point, who told her she had to call a snake remover. She was a bit silly about it, she also used to setup cage traps for all the bush turkeys.

For the most part they don't make it into suburb areas but Ive seen a few eastern brown's and red bellies.

In regards to the header, how would I make that stackable? I've seen a few guides on making the logo responsive which I need to get around to, and the navbar needs to be responsive as well.

But if I do move the logo over and place the number in the header, just making that responsive wouldn't work as the number would look tiny or huge on smartphones and still be right of the logo. If it could stack under the logo that would be OK./

Even the text isn't really responsive as it's all pixel based. For themes to be responsive everything should be em based, shouldn't it?
