    Hey guys,

I'm a veteran StudioPress user, but I'm starting a new venture. I need to set up a site that looks like http://www.thisiswhyimbroke.com. The main functionality I need is:

    Single Page website
Portfolio-type look (Picture with a text summary below, and an action button)
When you click on any of the portfolio items (whether it be the image, title, or action button), I'd like to direct visitors to an external site

I can't decide what theme would provide me the best baseline to work with, with as few customizations as possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Scott

    1. (a) I'd use the Genesis Sample child theme with WooCommerce

    or

    (b) The Executive Pro theme which includes a built in 3 column portfolio page.

When you click on any of the portfolio items (whether it be the image, title, or action button), I'd like to direct visitors to an external site

    2. Did you want to link to the same external site or a different external site for each portfolio item?

Thanks for the reply Brad. I'd like each portfolio item to link to something different, and ideally I'd like to include an action button below each of the portfolio items as well. Any ideas?

Yes however the code will be different for each solution. Which one did you want to use? WooCommerce or Portfolio Archive?

Both look fairly similar, so I'm open between the two. One consideration will be that I eventually plan on having over 1,000 "items" on the page (an item being a picture, a text blurb, and an action button. Would one of these handle that better than the other?

This solution works for themes using the portfolio archive page.

This code enables you to link both the title and featured image to any URL 6 hours work in coding that solution for members of wpsites.

As for the button, you can filter the read more link and use the same method as linked to above.

Here's the code to add the button and link it to any URL.

    Works with:

    1. Custom excerpts
    2. Auto Excerpts
    3. Content Limit

Thanks Brad. Any thoughts on having a separate field that has a dollar amount for the price of the item? I know I could just include it in the excerpt, but I would rather have a custom field as part of the post instead to make it easier to manage?

Wouldn't be hard to add another field.
