MemberI don't mean to ask all the questions on this forum however I am new and unsure of where to turn. I have the wintersong pro wordpress theme on the genesis framework but am having trouble editing the theme and customizing the way I want to.
Does anyone have suggestions for how to customer a wordpress theme on a low budget?

ParticipantHi Phillip,
Budget restrictions usually mean learn/DIY or using a plugin like Design Palette Pro, Genesis Extender, or something similar.
The plugins can be limited to what they can do, although Extender does offer help for inserting code, making shortcodes, etc., as well as offering colour and other styling controls. I've tried CSS-Hero and found it rather limiting and kinda tough to use. DPP should work with any StudioPress theme. Key would be to research for your theme, design ideas and purpose. If you know a bit about how things work this can be a good solution
As for learn/DIY, there are about a bazillion* tutorials, code snippets, video clips and other offerings available from #GenesisWP fans and for WordPress in general. You're using Wintersong, which is not as popular as some themes, but has some customization content available out there (it's meant to be a minimal design theme). Google can be an excellent resource if you have good Google-Fu. Twitter and Google+ are good places to tune in as well, following the #GenesisWP hashtag.
Another option, but one that may stretch your budget, is to hire some help. Fiverr and the like will typically get you a $5 result, usually when you needed a $50 result. If you have a design, layout and some details you can ask people like myself or many others that help out in these forums and beyond. Depending on what you want, what you need, and what your budget can afford, you might get the "heavy lifting" or priority items taken care of and the opportunity to finish up the rest on your own as you progress and learn.
Tackle one thing at a time and you'll find lots of helpful stuff and people willing to assist in their way. Places like WPBeginner.com, these forums and many other sites are a great place to learn as you go. Good Luck!

MemberTom,
Thank you for the suggestions. I will have to check those out. I want something minimal which is why I bought winter song I just want to tweak it a little bit. I have had so-so experiences with Fiverr and I'm trying to stay away from it in this case.July 14, 2015 at 8:32 pm #159434phillip.sims.jr
MemberBrad,
I want to change the shape of my header so that I can place a banner in the top left corner of the page with my logo. I always want to tweak the layout of the page and some color scheme. I think the things I want to change are very basic but like I said I'm very new to this so I am finding it a bit difficult.July 15, 2015 at 12:43 am #159452Brad Dalton

MemberBrad,
The header that I want on me webpage is currently 2506 x 1937. It is a very large banner that I had made but I think it could fit really well if I knew how to get it on there. -
