I'm making a child theme for a photographer friend. She'd like to have a gallery on the home page. The difficulty is that we'd like for her to be able to easily change the pictures once in a while (without having to edit the HTML link).

Jetpack's tiled gallery is a good example of the simplicity we're looking for, but it's just not good enough. (Can't link images to a URL, can't modify the layout it chooses, etc...)

Any suggestions for a plugin that makes attractive galleries that are more customizable and still easy for her--a newbie--to use? Or suggestions about something I could build that would be easy for her to update?

    Thanks!

I would use the native gallery.

You could also use a plugin to link gallery images to custom URL's

Might have to do that, but we were really hoping for something more attractive than the standard grid, that's why I was leaning towards Jetpack's tiled gallery:

Hey, turns out that plugin works for Jetpack galleries as well as the native gallery. That'll do, thanks!
