ParticipantI've not pulled the trigger and updated to 5.0 yet but was wondering if it's been a problem free experience for those who have?

ParticipantYes, we've updated quite a few with only one real issue... learning curve.
It's taking time to figure out how to make simple changes. Like where is this, and where is that, how do I do this, how do I do that.
Other than that, great job WordPress and StudioPress

ParticipantMy site looks fine in WP5.
Viewing existing pages in the new visual editor, spacing does not look correct on my site.
I wonder if that is a legacy issue since I used <div class="one-third"> to create columns. If I use a gutenberg block to create columns, the code is <!-- wp:columns {"columns":3} -->And in the code view it seems a more narrow area to view code.
It will be a learning curve.

ParticipantIt will be a learning curve.
I hate change, I'm too old ๐
And I'm not entirely convinced that knocking out a long winded post with images should be hindered by having to build multiple blocks in order to do so. But, to be fair, I haven't followed the GB drama prior to its release so I may well be misunderstanding its function.December 16, 2018 at 6:48 am #225072Jack
ParticipantHi Dave_s
I'm pretty old too and Gutenberg is a pretty big jump and the future is pretty eminence.
It's always good to be learning new things and Gutenberg will have a lot of new stuff in the future so I'm apprehensive and excited at the same time.
Switched over about 9 sites with no problems and no breakage.
Opened up one page in Gutenberg and lost all my line breaks, easy fix.
Started what will be a large post in G and so far pretty much like it. Have't checked out the html code yet but understand it works seamlessly.

ParticipantI've updated all my client sites and all is fine. The sites where I'm getting "updating failed" and "publishing failed" is my own. I have no idea how to fix it, it's not a plugin, it's not a theme...

MemberSpacing between blocks, it is huge, I have a title, then image and text blocks
The space between them is around 120 pixels, which produces a view that is far extended beyond the ability of browser to display it in a nice way.
Im off to look at CSS files now.

MemberOk, so here is what I am seeing when attempting to design content using the gutenburkGutCheck block editor, inserting blocks creates a lot of space between the content, in the included image below, you can see how much space there is, I did look through the style.css file but was not entirely sure of how I needed to edit the file to get a better placement between blocks.
Any ideas or suggestions, will continue to look at this

ParticipantWe've been using Gutenberg for months now and the update to WordPress 5.0 was uneventful. Creating new pages in the new WordPress Editor is a joy, and the posts are looking really nice.
Some of my favorite blocks are Caxton (cover image with button) and Cover Image. Blocks will be a game changer.
I'm almost 70 years old so age has nothing to do with learning new things. It's all in your attitude.
Great job Gutenberg developers! It's fun again to use a visual editor (instead of writing Posts in Text all the time)...
