I've heard from BlueHost this is a common error, but they don't provide support for fixing it.
Here's a link to the screenshot of the error: http://www.freelancewriterinchicago.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/freelancewriterinchicago-site-errors.png
You see the highlighted text? There should be an image appearing behind that so you don't have to highlight it to see that. In fact, if you reload the page, the image appears. However, it disappears the moment you scroll down. There's 4 white areas, and the 2 with text you can't see should have background images.
How do I fix? FYI - Disabling the Disqus plugin removes the error related to that. But the others that prevent the background images from loading continue.
FYI you can check my homepage at freelancewriterinchicago.com to see the error live in action too.
Also, I tried disabling all plugins, and this screenshot is what happens - you can see the blue home section you should first see gets squished down to nothing:

What's a rough ETA for the fix to be solved? Weeks? Months?
Not a huge deal for me, but would like to know.

In a community volunteer forum? That's hard to say.

Could be W3 alone, a W3 conflict with another plugin or perhaps some code you've added. If you know when the anomaly first started to appear, you may be able to trace back to changes that were made, plugins that updated, etc.

I called my host, Bluehost, and they said the issue I'm having has been fairly common for parallax scrolling sites. I'm very careful about modifying as little as possible, and honestly don't recall any coding changes that would have led to this problem. I believe the site was working fine after all (minor) coding changes.
Do you know a link for caching plugins alternative to W3?
Thanks so much for your help by the way. Saved me hours of time of disabling plugins one by one to find the source of the problem.

An alternative would be to try and sort out W3, which is good but sometimes finicky.
For future plugin problem determinations:
Disable half of them. Problem remains? > disable half of the remaining 'half', and so on.
