    Hello,

    I am using a new installation of the Smart Passive Income child theme on this site.

    I want to remove or replace the default Front Page Background Image. However, the instructions to do so refer to a "Front Page Background Image" setting in the Customize menu. No such item exists in my Customize menu/settings (see screenshot below).

    What am I missing?

    Thank you,

    Colleen Greene

    The version of Smart Passive Income that you are using is the most recent one in your My StudioPress. The Front Page Background Image section in the customizer is just below Site Identity.

    The image should show behind the Front Page 2 widget. I only see Front Page 3 and 4 in your website. Do you see Front Page 2, and are you able to add a text widget, so that you can see if the image shows up then?

    Hi Marcy,

    My original post included a screenshot of the Customizer, but that screenshot does not appear to actually display in my original post. I have re-posting here. Screenshot of Customizer

    There is no such Front Page Background Image option in my Customizer.

    I am not using Front Page 2 on my home page since there is no setting in the Customizer that allows me to replace or remove the Front Page Background Image (I don't want that default laptop image). But yes, I do have the ability to add something to the Front Page 2 widget, such as a Tex widget or the Search widget. The widget appears in my list of available widgets, and it shows up on the home page. I just don't have the ability to remove or replace that Front Page Background Image.

    Thanks.

    I just did a fresh install of the SPI theme again, and there is still no Front Page Background Image option in my Customizer.

    The front page image won't show unless you add a widget to the Front Page 2 widget area. But the Front Page Image section should still show in the customizer.

    * A fresh install of the theme should have the default theme colors too.
    Did you change those again? If so, how? In the customizer?

    * Deactivate all plugins except for those listed in the setup instructions.
    - Genesis – eNews Extended Widget
    - Simple Social Icons
    Do you see the Front Page Background Image in the Customizer?
    Leave the plugins deactivated for the next step.

    * Did you download the theme again before doing the fresh install? If not, please download again, and then reinstall.
    Are you deleting the current theme in Appearance > Themes or are you using FTP? If using FTP, delete all the files before uploading.
    Do you see the Front Page Background Image?
    Are the colors the default colors?

    The Front Page Background Image needs a number of files to work.
    * Look in your theme folder for the /lib folder.
    Do you see these files?
    customize.php
    customizer-scripts.js
    helper-functions.php
    output.php
    theme-defaults.php

    And this folder?
    woocommerce
    Have you made any changes to any of those files?

    * Look in your theme folder for /images folder.
    Do you see front-page-2.jpg?

    * Look in your theme functions.php. Do you see these lines as active - not commented out? They are all near the top of functions.php, but are not all together.
    // Setup Theme.
    include_once( get_stylesheet_directory() . '/lib/theme-defaults.php' );

    // Add theme helper functions.
    include_once( get_stylesheet_directory() . '/lib/helper-functions.php' );

    // Add Image upload and Color select to WordPress Theme Customizer.
    require_once( get_stylesheet_directory() . '/lib/customize.php' );

    // Include Customizer CSS.
    include_once( get_stylesheet_directory() . '/lib/output.php' );

    If all those files are there, and there are no plugins interferring, then that section should be there in the customizer.

    Have you contacted StudioPress directly?

    It's the Events Calendar plugin by Modern Tribes that is the offender. When deactivated, the Front Page Background Image shows up in the Customizer. When activated, the FPBI disappears.

    I usually deactivate and test all of those first when troubleshooting, but did not this time. Thank you for the reminder.

    My issue is Closed.

    I need to replace that plugin or workaround that glitch, but that is not part of this ticket.

    Thanks,

    Colleen

    Thank you for letting me know. I wondered about that plugin when I saw it in your customizer.

    Sugar Event Calendar by Pippin is a simple events plugin. You may need the premium version for features though. There are a few free add-ons, like Google maps.
