Tagged: site template
I want to create a template using Genesis and a child theme (yet to be determined) so that I can quickly create a new site using that template. How would I best go about doing that?
And then do I pack it up somehow? Using BackupBuddy or something else?
I must not be making myself clear. I want to create a template using Genesis Framework and a child theme, then use that as a template for 2-3 sites. I understand that the themes come zipped, but you have to install the framework and the child theme separately. I was hoping there was a way to install the whole thing... framework, child theme and any adjustments I make... in one step.
WordPress holds the content ( data ) and the child theme contains the code to change the styling and functionality of Genesis.
If you want to copy the website content, you can create a XML file ( export ) like you see in the child themes xml folder.
Another way to do this would be create the first website. Then use All in One Migration to make an export of that website. Then go to website #2, install All in One Migration, import the exported file you downloaded from website #1. Then do the same thing for #3. You will be cloning site #1 to sites #2 and #3.
