ParticipantMy client is unhappy with the speed of his site both on Directnic (where it is currently hosted) and on Siteground (where we are near the end of a trial period. The server response time dropped from 2.3 to .41 on the Siteground trial according to Google's Page Speed Insights, but he still thinks it is too slow. Siteground has a (Supercacher) tool that may help more, but that can't be implemented on the trial version of the site, only after we commit to an unrefundable plan with them. Before the Siteground trial I attempted to use caching on the Directnic site, both by using the WP Super Cache plugin and then trying an htaccess solution the Directnic staff suggested. Neither seemed to have any affect at all, for some reason.

I was reading on the StudioPress site and found mention of Accelerator, but I can't even find a link to it. Is it a plugin? Might this help enough to make my client happy while still staying on the current server? Any tips and hints will be appreciated.
Here is a link to the Siteground trial:

MemberHi,
Accelerator was/is?? similar to a CDN, like Cloudflare.
A CDN might help with the server response time (because it will usually be the response time of the CDN servers)You can't really help the server response time with a caching plugin because it is mainly hardware dependent.
There is only so much you can expect from shared hosting.
If your client wants super fast connectivity on a server level, they probably have to look into WP Engine, Flywheel, Pagely, etc... or setup their own VPS hosting.

MemberI'd be cautious about removing version number query strings until you have a complete understanding of their function, and the consequence of their removal.
