I would like to have the sidebar on the left. I was able to change it so that it's on the interior pages but not on the home page. I'm sure there is probably some code in the functions.php file but I don't want to mess around with that without knowing exactly what I'm doing!
I'm using the Lifestyle-Pro theme and the mock-up of the site is http://www.analisamendmentblog.com

Open up your functions.php file. Look for this:
// Force content-sidebar layout setting add_filter( 'genesis_pre_get_option_site_layout', '__genesis_return_content_sidebar' );Change it to this:
// Force content-sidebar layout setting add_filter( 'genesis_pre_get_option_site_layout', '__genesis_return_sidebar_content' );

Question: If the Lifestyle Pro theme is updated, will that change be overridden? Any other CSS edits I've been doing with a customcss stylesheet. How does that work with the php files?

That's in the functions. I don't think so, but you can never say never. But, what you can do is review the download and check the file before attempting any updates.
