    I'm using the Parallax Pro theme as a starting point for a new site design. I would really like to have a smaller secondary menu above the site-header throughout the site... similar to this site showcased on Studiopress's main site. http://www.studiopress.com/showcase/my-cocoa-shea

    I thought the solution was to reposition in functions.php using this:

    //* Reposition the primary navigation menu
    remove_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_nav' );
    add_action( 'genesis_before_header', 'genesis_do_nav' );

    But this doesn't work.

    Alternately, I thought MAYBE I could just add another custom menu to the right header menu. That does work for desktop viewing, but gets really clunky for mobile use. You end up with two separate mobile menus.

    Admittedly, I'm still kinda a newbie to the functions.php file and hooks. I understand it just enough to get myself in trouble... but I'm getting there.

    THANKS for taking time to point me in the right direction.

    You could add a widget area to the genesis_before_header hook and put a custom menu in that.

    Have you tried making a Utility Bar? This is pretty simple and is explained in this tutorial: http://www.carriedils.com/widget-area-above-header-genesis/

    It worked great for me! Let me know how it works for you!
