Hi Guys - Right now I have a featured image for each post and this image is what's displayed in the search results.

I'd love to add one additional image to each post and specify that this additional image is only to be shown on the search results page as the thumbnail.

The reason for this is that the featured image looks great as the header/hero image up top, but looks just OK as the thumbnail on search results.

I thought about doing this using the Advanced Custom Fields plugin, but on the forum over there they said this:

"I don’t know about genesis filters and actions, or how genesis displays the thumbnails. Knowing how genesis/your theme displays the images would be vital to creating a filter that alters what is output. Your first step is going to be to figure this out and I can’t really give you any advice on this."

Question: I'm not sure where to begin. Is there a better way to accomplish what I need (display a custom image on the search results page)?

Here is the conversation over on the ACF forum - https://support.advancedcustomfields.com/forums/topic/replace-featured-image-in-search-results-with-acf-image/#post-51867

    All help is much appreciated.
