    I want to remove the widget title for the search box. When I leave the field empty, the string "search" is added automatically. How can I fix this? Adding a space in the title field doesn't work either, nor a nbsp.

    Use CSS.

    Inspect the widget title, find the class and use display:none;

    I've activated the search widget in both the Genesis Sample and Epik themes. It appears that you are using Epik. The title, if left blank, does not appear. I can't duplicate what you are seeing.

    However, there is a widget title filter that you can use:

    if ( is_active_widget(false, false, 'search') ) {
        add_filter( 'widget_title', '__return_false');
    }

    Default title ("Search") reappears if left blank after a few days (without touching anything).
    Thanks for the code Victor, where should I include this?

    Hi Victor, I put the code in the fuctions.php but it's removing all widget titles. I only want to remove the search box widget title.
