Remove Responsiveness Genesis Sample

My client really hates the responsiveness of the design. The way the sidebar menu jumps around when the screen is reduced is just not consistent. I've removed the viewpoint code from functions.php. I've also removed mobile media CSS. I tried to set min-width to my sidebar. My sidebar is part of a widget, and even when disabled, I'm still having issues.

Are there any suggestions on how to take the responsiveness out of the site in the Genesis sample theme. Nothing I'm doing seems to work.

The site isn't responsive for me - It doesn't adjust on my phone or iPad, and it doesn't change if I resize my browser window.

All that said, keep in mind that someone viewing the site on a mobile device won't see the transition from one size to another. The site will just appear at the correct size and won't change. I personally think it's a big mistake not to allow mobile visitors to see the site in a way that works with their devices, but I also know the client knows best (or at least they think they do!) and you don't always have the option to tell them no.

Thanks for responding. I agree with you on the responsiveness. I believe it should be responsive.

Maybe I'm not saying the right thing, though. The sidebar keeps jumping below the content as the screen becomes smaller. Is there a way to lock it in place?

That's normal/expected behavior for a mobile responsive website - the sidebar drops to the bottom so the visitor can read the content. If the sidebar stays in place, there isn't enough room on the screen to see everything. People who view websites on mobile devices are used to that and know they can scroll down to see the sidebar.

I completely understand that. But they don't want this. The keep moving the screen (I mean, why? I get it). Can I remove this feature?

Unfortunately, it is not one feature that you are going to have to change. One thing I noticed is that the site container does not have a wrap, so even if you contain the sidebar and content to fixed width, the header is still not going to behave because it is not contained. If it's not too late you could revert back to the old sample theme which was not responsive

It's not too late. Is that somewhere on the Studiopress site? I have no issue with doing this.

Look under your downloads at the bottom under the archived themes. If you cannot find it there, contact me through my website, I have a local copy of 1.5 and 1.8 which are not responsive.
