I'm designing my first ever Realtor website and I could use a little guidance. I've decided to go with the Winning Agent theme for several reasons. First, I like the design a little better than AgentPress Pro and second, my client's biggest competitor is using AgentPress Pro so I'd like to avoid any similarities. My plan is to integrate IDX Broker into the website at some point.
I was hoping somebody could briefly walk me through the workflow of building a Realtor website. For example, I was told by the folks at IDX that it's better to get the website designed the way I want it before integrating IDX Broker. Also, in the setup I'm proposing I'm unsure of what handles the agent's own listings. Is it Winning Agent, IDX, or a separate plugin?
Any advice or guidance is greatly appreciated.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?September 21, 2015 at 9:02 am #166215RavenManiacParticipantThanks Victor. The only reason I posted my question here is because I purchased the theme through StudioPress, but I posted my question on their forum as well.

It's my understanding that Agent Evolution doesn't use Genesis, but has developed its own framework called Equity. The reason I'm using Genesis is because of it's stability. Should I be looking at an Equity-based theme instead? If so, what are the advantages over Genesis?
September 21, 2015 at 6:16 pm #166273IDX LeadsMemberI sent you to that website so you could get ideas on what's trending in real estate website functionality and content. Those concepts are universal and can be incorporated into any website. Some frameworks and some child themes support them better than others.

I've been researching Realtor websites all day and I really like what Agent Evolution offers–especially with their IDX Broker integration. Although I remain loyal to Genesis, I may have to try them out for my Realtor sites. Sometimes you just want to work with things that are easy. 🙂
September 22, 2015 at 6:45 am #166328IDX LeadsMemberYes, with regard to IDX Broker the Equity framework child themes are out of the box the easiest by far. IDX Broker owns Agent Evolution, literally. Before IDX Broker purchased them AE was selling & supporting their real estate focused Genesis child themes, some of which featured enhanced functionality & styling for IDX Broker. The enhanced functionality & styling that was once bundled in some of their Genesis child themes is now built into their Equity framework.

In regards to your original question:
"... I’m unsure of what handles the agent’s own listings. Is it Winning Agent, IDX, or a separate plugin?"
There isn't a clear, direct answer to that, its a combination of things.
This is not specific to Winning Agent Pro btw, but the AgentPress Listings plugin, also used by AgentPress Pro, is used to manually enter listings and could certainly be used on it's own, without the use of an IDX service. That said, I've seen some use it with an IDX service if you like the way it features your own listings better with a theme's built-in styling for it. Plus you'd have more control over them. Regarding IDX, whatever service you use, it will also have a way to view or feature your own listings -- it goes by the agent's office id or license id. Clear as mud right? 🙂

I decided to go with AE, Equity, and IDX. I was told that the new Equity framework is based, to a large degree, off of Genesis and that the owners of AE have a very good working relationship with the owners of StudioPress. Heck, the Equity framework is so similar in look and feel to Genesis that I would be surprised if AE does't have some kind of a licensing arrangement with StudioPress. 🙂
