    I've customised the Genesis Sample theme, still have work to do in it but I've hit a stumbling block.

    I want to add a Read More link (i'll style it to be a button with CSS), I have added the following to the themes functions.php

    // Add Read More Link to Excerpts
    add_filter('excerpt_more', 'get_read_more_link');
    add_filter( 'the_content_more_link', 'get_read_more_link' );
    function get_read_more_link() {
    return '... [Read More]';
    }

    But it is not showing up in my blog archive - http://britesocial.com/blog/

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    Steve

    Check your Genesis theme settings. Excerpts will only display the [...] with no link, but if you switch to displaying a content limit, you'll get the Read More link.

    Nuts and Bolts,

    How do you do this?

    Check your Genesis theme settings. Excerpts will only display the […] with no link, but if you switch to displaying a content limit, you’ll get the Read More link.

    Thanks in advance. I'm trying to figure out the same thing for my Beautiful theme.

    You can see that my blog has excerpts displayed, and I'd rather it be more content with a read more link.

    In Genesis > Theme Settings > Content Archives, choose "Display post content" from the dropdown box. Once you do, a line will appear underneath that says "Limit content to ____ characters" and you can choose your limit. Most people choose somewhere between 300-500 depending on how much content you want to show, but you can choose any limit you'd like.
