The "read more" link is not showing up on Archive or Category Pages. When it should show up automatically without me or anyone else doing anything. How do I add the link WITHOUT CODE.

I do not, I repeat I do not want to use a snippet or do thing that requires I go into the stylesheet or look in anything that ends with .php

    IS this possible"

    Hi there,

You can display a summary instead of the whole blog post by going to Genesis > Theme Settings > and then scrolling down to the Content Archives section.

If you select Display post content with a character limit of 0, you can use the <!--more--> tag in the blog post to display a "Read More" link on the home and archive pages. And if you select Display post content with a character limit (of any number), a "Read More" link will automatically appear on the home and archive pages.

And of course now my whole site is screwed up because of having to MESS AROUND WITH FREAKIN CODE!!!!!!!

I've got this error msg and there is no way to get back into the back end site

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')' in /home2/kashanti/public_html/pathwaysofopportunity.com/wp-content/themes/genesis/functions.php on line 32

Copy a fresh versions of functions.php into the theme's directory through FTP. Never, ever change functions.php through the theme editor. Always download functions.php through FTP and work on it locally. Also, never, ever change code in the Genesis directory. Always make the changes to your child theme.

If you want help fixing this, email me.

I ended up having to delete both files in FTP to finally get back in on the site. Of course I now have to redo everything. this is the frustration I was trying to avoid.

Please, Please these are things I need to do. If they cannot be done without going into the stylesheet on either of them tell me. I do not want to do ANY coding ANY where.

    I need custom color background
I need custom header that goes to 969x149
I want the author box with the gravatar just like in the demo at the end of posts and pages
I want the read more link to show up on the Category and Archive pages.

Can any of these be done by pointing and clicking no typing of code?

When I put any content limit on the content archives or anything else, it displays the content all jumbled up and all form, like paragraphs, are removed. It looks horrible. Is there anyway to put a limit on post contents with a "read more" and keep the actual paragraph form of the post? I can't imagine why it wouldn't be designed to keep form without me having to recode it?
