Primary navigation on state

We are building a site using the Executive Child Theme (Responsive). Is there a  way to modify the CSS to maintain the "on" state in the Primary Naviagation (top banner)?

For example when you go to the "Sample Page" landing page (level 1)
http://demo.studiopress.com/executive/sample/

The primary navigation (top banner) iturns  blue for that section of the site. However when you click on a level 2 link in the drop down menu, i.e. Sub Page 1.1
http://demo.studiopress.com/executive/sample/sub-page-11/

The blue block goes away and all of the top banner navigation blocks revert back to the gray background color.

We would like to keep the top banner content section block  blue for all pages that fall under that block.

You would want to look for the CSS around here and modify it.
