Hello, I'm a bit confused with child, premium themes and best practices with Genesis framework.

    1. If I want to use "Genesis Sample" as my theme, should I create a child theme of it or should I just build my site using it?

    2. I bought News Pro premium theme. Should I create a child theme of it? Or can I just build my site using it?

    3. If I have to create a child theme for either 1 or 2, what is the best practice to do this?

All Studio Press themes regardless of whether they are labeled as premium or not are child themes for the Genesis Framework, the parent theme. You should not use the Genesis Framework without a child theme.

Premium themes are child theme's that carry a cost. The Genesis Sample theme is a free child theme. Child themes will not work without the Genesis Framework.

Child themes are designed so you can make changes to code and CSS without the risk of having them over written by theme updates. Only the Genesis Framework is updated on a regular basis.

You cannot create a child theme of a child theme.
