I am investigating the Crystal theme at the moment and want to find out about the Portfolio template.

I created a page and selected the portfolio template and when I previewed it I got my entire blog in 4 columns?

What is the process to create a portfolio, I really just want to create a photo album

Or use the native WordPress gallery to create a image gallery or photo album on a new page or post.
