Okay, I'm stumped. I've tried to follow the directions in the tutorial to set up a portfolio page, but I'm just missing something - or everything.

First off, I want it to work like the old portfolio page template, where I basically end up with a grid of pictures that, when clicked upon, will lead to the post associated with that picture.

Is that what it's supposed to do? :/

After I know I'm not barking up the wrong tree, I'll ask my next question.

I understand, you are trying to setup this - http://demo.studiopress.com/executive/portfolio/

Click Portfolio option on left sidebar in WordPress dashboard and add few posts. You can see all those posts on this page: youwebsiteurl.com/portfolio/

Yes. But I get page not found no matter what I do. Even for the preview.

Re-save your permalink settings which will flush the cache for the re-write rules in your .htaccess file
