Here's the development site for my the new WordPress installation running WordPress, and featuring the Parallax Pro theme:

You'll see a couple of demo posts in Section 3. I am using the Genesis - Featured Posts plugin. While the posts fit, I'm still not 100% in love with the way that they look.

What I'd like to be able to do is to have blog posts written by certain authors to be formatted differently. For example, if our priest does a quick notification via his iPhone app, it might have a custom background, or custom icon. Same with if our choir director posts a choir post.

I've used custom posts in the past, but that was a loooong time ago, and I have no idea how to do something similar with a Genesis theme.

So the questions, in a nutshell:

    1) Does anyone have any examples on their websites of recent posts by Category that looks really good? (Either widgetized or other?)

    2) Does anyone know of a way to add custom CSS by post to certain authors in a widgetized area?

Thank you for any help and examples you may be able to provide!

You will need to write the CSS for the styling yourself however you can add custom classes with the is_author() conditional tag or use use different author.php or category.php templates with custom classes.
