On a site, I recently changed a body font to a custom font and installed the font in the theme folder. It's showing up, but with a delayed appearance. The best way to describe it is that the paragraphs are there, but they are invisible or white (since the background is white) and then they appear in the dark grey value they should be in.

It's an odd delay and I cannot figure out why it would behave this way. It's not a browser or OS issue, because I'm on a Mac with Safari and my wife sees it in Chrome on Windows.

The H2 subheads are in a different font and they come up immediately.

I switch the font to "Arial" and there's no visual delay.

I tried hunting this down on Google but it doesn't seem to be something other people have reported.

How did you install the custom font? I know you said in a theme folder, but how are you loading them? Local fonts, which the custom font is because you have it in the theme folder, are loaded in style.css using the @font directive. Is that what you're doing?

Is the custom font designed for the web, meaning do you have versions for the various browsers, i.e. eot, woff woff2, ttf, svg?

Arial is a system font. System fonts are installed on eveyone's computers. Your not seeing a delay because you're not loading anything from the web.

Whenever you have a problem with your site, it helps tremendously to provide a link to the site. It's helps us to help you if we can observe the behavior and examine what we can of the source code from the front end.

I installed it in a folder within my theme and I called it up using an @font within my CSS. It showed up fine after a few seconds whenever a page loads. I took it off the site in question, so it's not an example to see.

Just wondered if anyone knew why there would be a delay in being visible. It's not browser dependent or OS dependent. It happened everywhere.
