I'd like to create a page that has approximately 4 posts (thumbnail + title) from multiple categories.

However, this shouldn't be the home page.

I'm thinking that I would need to register widget areas on that page and then use genesis featured post to populate each categories post with a link to more posts like it.

I don't know if this makes sense? But is that what I need to do?

And, if so, how do I register widget areas for a page that isn't the home page?
