    I'm using Essence, and I'm wondering if there is a simpler way to enable a pagebuilder (beaver builder plugin) than add a pagebuilder.php file to the template folder.

    All I really want to do is make some of the page "Truly full-widgth". Pagebuilder templates usually do this trick.

    No, with most of the page builders like Beaver Builder and Elementor, you need a custom template to work with Genesis. You can try this tutorial here to see if that will work for you.
