Just added my first widget area and was tickled pink when it actually worked. I haven't styled it yet except for a background and text inside the text widget to make sure it was working. But my problem is the height of the widget area is weird. It looks like it's in the right place, but it is way too tall, and goes behind the widget above it. It's the little spot that says "The Blog."

Does anyone know what I've done wrong?

    Thanks!

You have 250px of padding that's making it too tall - margin and padding both add to the dimensions of a box in CSS. If you get rid of that, or lower the value to something closer to what you want, you'll be better off.

Also, if you really want that widget to stretch all the way across the width of the content there, you can make sure it comes out from under the areas above by adding display:block; to the rule for the blog-title widget area.

Let me knowhow it works out!

Sharing the good news about the wonders of modern CSS and the split-step. Either one should get you moving fast. 😀

Thanks Mary! I actually had to add the 250 px of padding just so it would look okay until I got the issue fixed.

I removed the padding and added block display, but it's still including the widget area above it. Any more ideas?

    Thanks again,

I could still use help with this issue if anyone has any ideas. Thanks!
