I'm having same issue. Fresh install today and I'm getting a weird white space at the top right of the header and at the bottom below the footer. I tried to add a logo to the top left by editing header.png, but no dice. Even once I replace the original header.png file, I still get the white square. I've installed the theme other places, without issue, so I'm not sure what's up.

    My URL is http://fdsa.org/dev_site/

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -Kent

when I add the part I see white space what can do to fix?

The white space on the right of the header is due to the header graphic being only 1200px wide and not repeating. And then the space below the footer is the body color.

If you want the header image centered you need to add a fixed width to the #header rule or add "background-position: center;".

If you don't want the grey beneath the footer you change the background of the body rule.

And if you want to add a color to the header you can add "background-color: #000 !important;" to the #header rule.

There is no need to yell. See my previous post in which I included what you need to do.

    John,

Thanks for that info. I'll give it a go. I'm curious, though, so I know in the future - isn't that the default - the header centered and then the background is black? The header image that comes stock with the theme fades to black on each end and then is centered? I'm just trying to figure out how I broke it.

I installed the theme here too: http://www.kentfackenthall.com/outreach/ and had no issues.

Is the #header rule modified when you change the header image via the WordPress Admin?

    Thanks,
    -Kent

SoZo, we could use your help on this one.  I am not seeing a good solution in the forums.  I tried your solution but it did not work.  I've created many SP websites and this seems to be a bug.  In other themes, I am able to change the header using the Appearance > Header area, but not on this one.

I got it to work by:
    * replace the /images/header.png image with my own, same dimensions
    * under Appearance > Header, I checked the checkbox for the text
    * remove the site title from Settings > General  (not good because inside pages now do not have the site name after the page name, unless manually overriden on the page meta title level)

It seems like there is either a better solution or this is a bug.  It feels like a bug.

    Thanks for any additional insight!

    Sozo / Kent-

Sozo I tried your solution but I could not make it work.  Kent I looked at your site so clearly you did something to get the result you wanted.  But I looked using Firebug and could not see any additions made in accordance with what Sozo had suggested, so did you try something different.  Actually Kent what you did is EXACTLY what I am trying to do 🙂  Would you be so kind as to elaborate as to what you did.  I also noticed that when I did have my custom header installed when I manipulated the home page via resizing the browser it actually shrank the logo vs your site which seems to keep the contents of the header the same and eventually centers it, I'm assuming as desired.

Here is my site address: http://www.austincarpetcleaningpros.com (oh and no making fun of the logo its just for testing purposes 🙂 )

I'm confused about this issue too. All I did was add the logo to the existing header.png and reuploaded the file. Then I got white space to the right side. I did not change any css or anything else, but I did untick the reference for viewing the text heading in the theme setting. So why have I now got white space?  http://www.vtio.org.au.
