Can anyone please help me to change the width of my header and footer on this site http://theme.madagascarvolunteer.com/ I would like to show more of the background

Hi,

you can do this by adding

width: 1140px;
margin: 0 auto;

in different selectors of the style.css

For the header change the style.css around line 1033:

.site-header {
    background: transparent linear-gradient(to left, #69B446, #FFF) repeat scroll 0% 0%;
    color: #FFF;
    min-height: 160px;
    width: 1140px;
    margin: 0 auto;
}

For the primary navigation add it around line 1272:

.nav-primary {
    background-color: #1176BC;
    width: 1140px;
    margin: 0 auto;
}

For the footer widgets add it around line 1357:

.home-bottom {
    background-color: #F6F6F6;
    padding-top: 20px;
    width: 1140px;
    margin: auto;
}

For the footer add it around line 1618:

.footer-widgets {
    background: transparent linear-gradient(to left, #69B446, #1176BC) repeat scroll 0% 0%;
    color: #FFF;
    clear: both;
    font-size: 14px;
    padding: 20px 0px;
    width: 1140px;
    margin: 0 auto;
}
