    I was looking at the Modern Blogger Pro theme, and I like the whole one big post then little excerpt posts. She uses a plugin for that but is there a way to do it with just the functions file? I tried to use the plugin but the pagination disappeared which is why I'd like to do it the way of functions.

    I found this thread on the WP forums and I'm wondering if there is a way to apply that to the Genesis theme?

    Does any of this make sense? xD

    Link to your site please.

    What theme are you using?

    You can add the grid loop manually simply by taking the code from a theme which includes it and adding it to your front-page.php, home.php or blog page template.

    This enables you to set a featured posts with unlimited content and then display excerpts.

    Jenny - if the pagination disappeared, and that's the only reason you aren't using the plugin, you can submit a support ticket over at the Pretty Darn Cute Design Support desk, and I will pick it up and investigate it for you.

    @braddalton Well here's my site. http://so-very.me

    Right now I'm in the middle of designing my new theme (I make my own as I cannot afford child themes)

    @Susan
    I'm not using a PDC design. I just liked what you had created and wanted to do something similar.

    Sorry, Jenny - I saw "Modern Blogger Pro", and thought that was what you were using 🙂

    Another option is to install a grid loop plugin and then you can add some code to display the first post full length and excerpts https://github.com/billerickson/Genesis-Grid/wiki
