    I'm trying to add a background image just in the header.

    In the admin panel (appearance > header > custom header > header image) places a logo image in the title area, not a background image for the entire header.
    In the admin panel (appearance > customize > header image) does the same thing.

    How do I get a background image to appear for the entire site header?

    Can you provide the URL of your site and that of your desired header background?

    Alas, no url yet. I'm still in basic site design/development (installed locally on my computer).

    However, I was able to add my small header background image (and have it repeat to fill the header) by modifying the CSS:
    .site-header {
    - to add this:
    Background: url(http://mylocalsite.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/header-background-bt-01.png) repeat !important;

    [the url, of course, must be the exact address of the image]

    So I was able to display the background in the header properly after all.

    Thank you for your willingness to assist.

    ... Just thought I would now post my solution in case others might also need to know this.

    Hi Guys, i have just tried to implement the same, howver it did not work for me. Just keep getting the same white background in my header.

    So Ithis is what I have done in CSS

    .site-header {
    background-color: #fff;
    border-bottom: 3px solid #000;
    Background: url(http://mylocalsite.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/header-background-bt-01.png) repeat !important;

    }

    *Image path was changed to an image I have saved on the site*
    Can someone please help.
