How on earth can it be that replacing the Genesis Sample child theme's logo with another of exactly the same proportion can produce such wildly different results? Wildly! Truly!

    Here's my logo.png
    My Genesis replacement logo.png file.

Here's how it looks by Genesis Image folder upload logo.png Default - crappy!
Genesis logo img replacement example. Live!

and here's how it looks on some kind of responsive - even worse...
Genesis Responsive Logo @ 360x164 pixels...

This is appalling. I repeat my initial question "How hard can it be to put a site logo up on the Genesis Default Theme?" Or, to re-phrase - How many hours would it take to put a - perfectly working - image logo up on a Default Genesis theme?

This is far from simple, far from instant and even all of billybob's free themes can put a working logo into a site header.

And, I haven't even started with the extra special surprises waiting for me, I'm sure, with the Retina stuff.

Genesis Sample theme does not have logo uploader functionality. By default, just replace logo.png file with your logo image and then make corresponding logo size changes in style.css file. This can be difficult for non-coders to start with.

For more easier workflow, grab any latest Pro Genesis themes - they have logo uploader feature.

"...just replace...and then... This can be difficult..." Indeed. My point. Specifically and especially if newcomers to Genesis are seeing how friendly this well-known theme is. The gen child sample, setup documentation and logo styling for newcomers should be flawless [imho of course].

thanks for the heads-up on the logo uploader 'feature'.

Yes, you are absolutely correct on "initial difficulty" part. Please note: Genesis is not usual "drag and drop" affair. It is primarily for developers or users wanting to learn DIY style.
