Hi--
I hope someone can help me.
When you first go to my blog: doglegbipolarjourney.com
you get a screen that looks like two columns if you don't scroll down. (If you scroll down, you see that there is a third sidebar on the right where the text is scooted down the whole way to the footer). This should not be. My only layout throughout my site is three-column blog layout.
When you click on any category in the nav bar, the correct posts appear on those pages, AND the CORRECT layout is appearing throughout. However, if you click on the first category, "blog/memoir," the URL is this: http://doglegbipolarjourney.com/blogmemoir-2/
Why is that " -2 " at the end? Is this the reason something is messed up? Because the -2 is not in the name anywhere.
Then, if you click on the "breadcrumb" above the post (after "you are here") that says "home" you are right back to that page that is not the correct layout. I wouldn't even care at this point, but I don't like that the info from the far-right sidebar is forced down so low.
Is there anyway to fix this??? I have been working on this all evening, and have made no progress on anything else...

January 31, 2013 at 10:29 pm #16976AnitaCKeymasterI don't understand the first part of your question, but the last part regarding the -2 - at some point you had a page labeled - http://doglegbipolarjourney.com/blogmemoir (without the-2). You then created another page named the same thing except WP added a -2 after it to make it unique to itself and not to be confused with the other link that didn't have the 2.
Now for the first part, what sections aren't formatted correctly on the front. Please provide the content that resides in those areas.

January 31, 2013 at 10:38 pm #16979dogleg.comMemberOn the front of the blog, as soon as you arrive, there are 7 post excerpts listed down a column; to the right of that is some "sidebar"-type info, again a list of posts, and some tags. If you scroll down, the material from the secondary sidebar, in black lettering, is way down below where it should be.
It is all the same content that should be on all of the pages, (except on other pages there will be just the posts that belong to that category).
My default layout is 3 columns (Prose). The worst problem now is that my columns are not correct, and I think it looks bad. BUT I think the other problem is that somewhere there is some "home page" instructions that I can't see and can't change that is telling this supposed "page" what to do (even though I have deleted the page named "home" in order to correct my formatting disaster (as described in my previous question).
I hope you understand...if not, I will find another way to say it.
Thanks
Paula
January 31, 2013 at 10:43 pm #16982AnitaCKeymasterOkay... you lost me again.... you stopped describing the "content"... provide the content names. What should be in the 3rd column because you never mentioned it. You also have two footer areas way at the bottom. The left doesn't have anything in it and the right has "Find it Here".

January 31, 2013 at 10:50 pm #16985dogleg.comMemberUnder my header, it says "you are here: home" and then under that are 7 posts (that don't have any problems that I can see)--that is my content column. To the right, under the "search" box/bar, is my primary sidebar, which has "what we're talking about" and "topics" below that. If you keep scrolling down, you will see the content that is in the secondary sidebar (third column) that says "welcome to my blog" with black type underneath and a small thumbnail. Except--that column is squished way down because there is no room for it, since the first, content column, is way to far to the right.
(I know about the footer areas----I am working on those, I just haven't decided all the content for down there, and I am prioritizing my emergencies 😉
Do you see that when you arrive at my blog, the formatting doesn't match anything that is on any other section of the blog? Even though it says it is "home" according to the breadcrumb navigation words, there is no "home" that I am aware of.
This is very confusing!
January 31, 2013 at 11:09 pm #16993AnitaCKeymasterI see a third column that to the right that says "Welcome to m blog" with "Previous Posts" under it. But in the bottom dark green area I see "Pins" and "Boost Your Mood". So am I seeing it correctly or should the Pins & Boost Your Mood be in the 3rd column?

January 31, 2013 at 11:13 pm #16994dogleg.comMemberYes, that is what you are supposed to see. The "pins" and "boost your mood" are in my footer areas, and I am working on repositioning those a little better right now. They are where they are supposed to be. It is that "Welcome to my blog" and "previous posts/archive" that are in the third column and that are not fitting up next to everything else.

I will have to get off here pretty soon...maybe someone will reply by morning.

February 1, 2013 at 11:39 am #17105dogleg.comMemberHi Anitac--
I cured the column-width problem by re-installing my Yoast SEO plugin. I have no idea why that worked, but it did. I am just going to accept that for now.
However, I still would like to know what I can do about the "home" page and how I can either access it to see how it is set up or I would like to make my blog page my "home"--without a separate link being there.
Not an emergency any more.
Thanks
Paula
