    This is the design I'm trying to implement:

    One way to do that, is to move the header info (title and subtitle) down. I understand this should be done through hooks in functions.php, however, I can't figure it out beyond that.

    PS I'm working on a site that doesn't allow visitors (it's a sort of forum).

    I've tried the following, which doesn't break the theme, however the closing div does not appear after the content, but after the sidebar, which I don't understand:

    //* Move genesis header KH 2014
    remove_action( 'genesis_header', 'genesis_header_markup_open', 5 );
    remove_action( 'genesis_header', 'genesis_do_header' );
    remove_action( 'genesis_header', 'genesis_header_markup_close', 15 ) ;

    add_action( 'genesis_before_content', 'genesis_header_div_open_KH', 2);
    function genesis_header_div_open_KH() {
    echo '<div class="colum1">';
    };
    add_action( 'genesis_before_content', 'genesis_header_markup_open', 5 );
    add_action( 'genesis_before_content', 'genesis_do_header' );
    add_action( 'genesis_before_content', 'genesis_header_markup_close', 15 );

    add_action( 'genesis_after_content', 'genesis_header_div_close_KH');
    function genesis_header_div_close_KH() {
    echo '</div>';
    };
