I've been trying to style in a light gray overlay for featured image on all posts. All of my attempts have fallen short. Any suggestions?

It is Monochrome Pro (I should have add Pro to the title). I've attempted to add the background: rgba(0,0,0,0.3) to a number of the backstretch divs with no luck.
