I overheard a conversation in which one of the parties was talking about "modifying Genesis."
The other party asked if she meant customizing one of the Child themes.
The first person said no, she was going to offer services that modified Genesis.

When asked if she had any experience with Genesis, she said, no, but she could wing it until
    she learned it.

I thought this was a strange conversation and stayed out of it. I understand about customizing
the Child themes. I've done a little of that myself. But I would never in a million years try to do
    anything with the Genesis framework.

So here's my question: If she has no experience with Genesis, is she headed down a path to
disaster for her (potential) clients? If she hasn't been part of developing Genesis, is she even going
to be able to do what she's proposing?

I have been under the impression for awhile that StudioPress recommends that we not use just
Genesis, but to put the actual design part of the site on a Child theme.

Basically, none of this is any of my business because I would never do it. I'm just asking out of curiosity.
(And I can't include a URL because I have no idea what it would be.)

    Thanks.

That developer is heading down a path to disaster. Every time Genesis is updated, her changes will be over written.

Well, I wondered about that. But since I didn't know these people and I wasn't part of the
conversation, I thought it would be best if I just stayed out of it.

But you know how it is when you get curious about something. 🙂

    Thanks for you input.

I would have butted in. She's going to have some very angry clients in the future and it will be an expensive lesson.

Maybe I should have, but it's too late now. 🙂
