Hello! I am using Modern Portfolio Pro child theme. How can I display only the featured image of posts on a category page, in 3 columns on a full-width layout. Similar to the home page portfolio widget area of this theme. Here is the test site:

    http://3a8.c8c.myftpupload.com/

You can see the 3 images linking to posts -- that is what I want to do on a category page called "portfolio"

I know it means modifying the functions.php of the child theme to add an action for a specific category to display the featured image, but beyond that, I don't know what the code would look like, nor how to make it display 3 featured images across the full-width layout.

    Appreciate your help!

A solution without having to fiddle with code would be to use Bill Erickson's plugin - http://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-grid-loop/

thanks Jami - I tried that, and I get this error:

Warning: Division by zero in /home/content/p3nexnas05_data01/98/2124598/html/wp-content/plugins/genesis-grid-loop/plugin.php on line 251

    on this page: http://3a8.c8c.myftpupload.com/category/portfolio/

The page is displaying the way I want it to look - featured images of posts in a category I named "portfolio" -- 3 columns across.

No one has been able to help me solve this error. Carrie Dils mentioned using a built in portfolio page, but I can't find that in the dashboard anywhere, otherwise I would use it. And there aren't any instructions for setting up a portfolio page in the theme instructions either.

My next question is, What built-in portfolio page, and where is it in the dashboard?

    thanks

    You can use CSS http://wpsites.net/web-design/archive-page-grid-style-columns-using-css/

Or you can use the archive-portfolio.php but requires more coding.

Hi Brad! Thanks for the links - looks like it would work perfectly! I also posted on the google plus genesis framework group, and Sridhar Katakam gave me this answer, which I used, and it works great! check it out...
