I'd like to replace the subscribe button created by the page.title with an Aweber opt-in sign-up form and customize the text to the left of the button (I do not want it link to the site tagline).

You could add a widget in there if you're comfortable modifying and adding code in your theme.

Then its simply a matter of adding your Aweber form code to a text widget.
