The Minimum theme tutorials don't cover a lot of stuff... or I'm not finding it.

One of the tutorials tells me to drag a text widget to the "Welcome" widget area. There is none. I also can't find where or how to configure the "subscribe" button. Can you point me toward all the links that tell me how to do everything I need to do for this theme please?

Also... is this new forum still under construction? It's very difficult to find theme specific information so far.

    Thanks.

Are you a member of the Old Studiopress Forum that has been set to Read Only? Have you looked at the Tutorial for Minimum from over there? If not, here is the link - but you have to be a registered user on the old forum to access it - http://www.studiopress.com/support/showthread.php?t=64996.

Anita - please direction people to the theme setup instructions under the "SETUP" link right next to the theme name in the http://my.studiopress.com/ portal.

Does the old forum say anything about how to configure the Subscribe button?  I ask because:

I don't see anything about it in the current instructions
I don't have access to the old forums
It's very unlikely I'll get a reply from Support over the weekend and I'd like to just get this resolved

    Thanks for any help.

I recommend putting in a ticket - you might be surprised and receive a response over the weekend - the moderators are here in the forum over the weekend, so there's no reason to suspect that they don't answer tickets over the weekend, too (just speculation on my part).
In the meantime, to configure the subscribe button, you should go to dashboard > appearance > editor > page-title.php, and edit the details there.

My instructions for the Minimum them (in "setup" as indicated by Andrea) don't reference adding a text widget to the "Welcome widget area" - mine indicate to add a text widget to the "Header right" for setting up the header, or the "Home Featured" area for the social network buttons.

Here's what I did on Minimum at sethperler.com

    <p><a href="http://eepurl.com/o-0_1" target="blank"  ><h1>Subscribe for Free Email Updates</h1></a>

This is in the "Primary Sidebar" in a Text widget

I am still struggling with formatting issues, but getting there

    Here are a few pointers.

Download and activate the Genesis eNews Extended plugin.  It's in the WP plugin repo and is slated to replace (but remain a plugin) the eNews widget that's with Genesis.  Put the widget in your sidebar where you want it.

If you need help configuring it, just post back.

    William,

I think I replied on this for you and a couple of other folks. I just want to put a general update here. First, HUGE thanks to the community members that helped out. Seriously. You guys (and I don't mean that in a gender specific way) are great. So glad to see much more community involvement as these new forums get under way.

Anyways, I'm going to be updating the setup tutorials. I'm not sure if this was an oversight or if it was accidentally removed in an edit. This is information that very much belongs there.

    It was overlooked. 🙂

Also William - not sure what tutorials you were looking at. If you googled, you may have found instrctions for the previous version of Minimum, which was very different.

We do man the help desk over the weekend, but understandably, responses may not be as quick as during a weekday.

    Nick,

Yes you did.  I've had no problems with support. The help has been pleasant and useful. On a few occasions, I've come across issues that the support staff thought was in the documentation, but was missing.

As you mentioned, the community is a huge help That's why I want access to the old community forum information. It's a knowledge base that we can use to resolve issues immediately. When I submit a ticket, there's a notice warning me that support over weekends & holidays could date 24-48 hours for a reply.  While that's understandable, it's an incredible roadblock compared to researching an answer that may already exist in the forum.

The only reason I can't access that knowledge is because I bought the product after a cut-off date for registration. Well, that's kind of lame, isn't it? Shouldn't all paying customers have access to the same resources? I sure think so.

William - did you find your answer on how to adjust the 'Subscribe' button in the Minimum 2.0 theme? If not, you'll be able to adjust that information in the page-title.php file in the theme's folder. If you understand code, you will be able to adjust the text for "Subscribe Now" on multiple pages, as well as what page that directs towards (via the <a href=""> tag in each corresponding line of code).

Hopefully that helps if you haven't already found it!
