I am using the magazine theme on my personal blog and have stumbled upon something I can't figure out. When I click on any option from my navigation above the wrap or at the top it shows the name of that category or page but not as a menu just a single item. How do I remove this or hide it?

Disable ALL plugins and see if it still happens. Something is outputting what is likely to be some debug code, but eliminating plugins means it's lots of things that don't have to be checked. If it disappears, enable each plugin one by one and check again to work out the culprit.

I tried disabling the plugins and it still appears.

Have you done some PHP customisations to your theme then? That's the only other place it could be coming from.
